Student Additions
To be eligible, you'll need to:

  • be in full-time higher education in the UK
  • be a permanent resident of the UK*
  • be studying for a degree/degree equivalent or post-graduate course
  • pay your main source of funding into your Student Additions Account
  • ensure your main current account is with Barclays.

Graduate package

Higher Education Account
If you have an existing student account:

Your account will be automatically upgraded to the Higher Education Account, provided that you:

  • have completed your full-time higher education
  • are a permanent resident of the UK*
  • have your main current account with Barclays.

If you don't have an account with Barclays:
To be eligible to apply for a graduate account you must meet the criteria above and also be in permanent employment or have a firm job offer (minimum six-month contract).

Graduate Additions
If you have an existing student account:

You can apply for Graduate Additions provided that you:

  • have completed your full-time higher education
  • are a permanent resident of the UK*
  • have your main current account with Barclays.

If you don't have an account with Barclays:
To be eligible to apply for a graduate account you must meet the criteria above and also be in permanent employment or have a firm job offer (minimum six-month contract).

For the purpose of the student package, your graduation date is taken to be 30 June of the final year of your course. The end date of the graduate package is 26 June two years later for the Higher Education Account. For example, if you graduate in June 2005 you are entitled to the graduate package benefits until June 2007 for the Higher Education Account. If you graduate in September 2005, you are entitled to the graduate package benefits until June 2007 for the Higher Education Account.

* A permanent UK resident is defined as a person who has lived in the UK for a minimum of three years before starting higher education studies. Non-UK resident students and graduates can apply for a Student Solutions Account from Barclays International Banking. However, if you are a non-UK resident but obtain a permanent job (at least 12-month contract) in the UK, you are eligible for the Higher Education Account and associated benefits.
