Terms: Savers with a balance of £10,000 or more receive an interest rate that is linked directly to Barclays base rate and allows up to six free instant access withdrawals per calendar year. Additional withdrawals are available, subject to a charge equivalent to 60 days' gross interest on the amount withdrawn. This is calculated using the interest rate you are receiving on your account on the day you arrange your withdrawal and will be deducted from your account balance, or we may amend the account to a Barclays Savings Reserve account. Interest is paid annually or monthly.
Since Barclays Base Rate is 0.50%, you would currently be receiving no interest under the account terms and conditions. However, we have decided for the time being to pay credit interest at the rate of 0.10% gross/AER which is higher than the ‘linked’ interest rates payable under the account terms and conditions as set out above. We reserve the right to change the current 0.10% interest rate payable and/or to apply the strict terms of the account at any time. In the event that Barclays Base Rate increases to the extent that credit interest is due and payable under the account terms (or payable at a higher rate than any concessionary rate being paid at that time), the ‘linked’ interest rates will apply from that point.
From 30 October 2009, the interest rates payable on credit balances on Tracker and currently linked to Barclays Bank Base Rate will instead be linked to Bank of England Bank Rate. Since this rate is set by an external body and is widely available you should find it easier to keep in touch with the interest rate applicable to your account. Currently both Barclays Bank Base Rate and Bank of England Bank Rate are 0.50%.
