Supporting the communities where we live and work
Wherever we are, we're always part of the local community. We support a broad range of causes, from local schools to centres for older people, kids' sports facilities and local hospices.
If it's close to home, whether large or small, and it really matters to the local community, we help through donations, skills and expertise.

Areas where we help
Our community teams across the UK have links with many organisations in their local areas, and proactively select partners who are best placed to tackle the issues we focus on in the most sustainable way. Unfortunately, this means we cannot consider unsolicited requests for funding at a regional or national level.
Exclusions policy
Barclays has a community investment exclusions policy which identifies types of initiatives and causes that we do not fund.
The community investment budgets cannot be used to support:
-
Political parties or bodies
-
Promotion of religious beliefs (we do consider projects lead by religious organisations providing the whole community benefits)
-
Sponsorship of individuals
-
Rotary, Lions Clubs and other third-party giving organisations
-
Hospital costs
-
Medical charities and medical research
-
Capital appeals (for example, for buildings)
-
Educational institutions (unless the donation provides direct support to a disadvantaged group)
-
The Arts (unless the donation provides direct support to a disadvantaged group)
-
Micro-finance loan fund capital (donations can be used to support the establishment and operation of community motivated micro-finance programmes, but cannot be used as capital for on-lending direct to clients)
