What do I need to do?

Eligibility

To be eligible you must be aged 18 or over, be ordinarily resident in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland), have unlimited right to remain in the UK and intend to work in the European Union (EU), Iceland, Norway or Liechtenstein once you have finished your course. Customers cannot apply if they have reasonable or adequate access to funds to pay for the course themselves.

You should apply for your loan up to three months in advance of your course start date as we may not be able to make a decision on your loan straightaway. It may take a number of weeks at certain times of the year, eg at the beginning of the academic year in September/October.

The Learning and Skills Council and Barclays are unable to accept responsibility for any inadequacy or unsuitability of the education or training you receive. They do not approve courses or providers, nor do they have any special arrangements with individual providers.

Barclays is a responsible lender and when considering your application for borrowing, your financial circumstances will be appraised. If you ever run into difficulties, you should contact us immediately.

Loans
Barclays personal loans are available for amounts of £1,000 to £25,000 with terms up to 10 years. If you are looking for a longer term loan, a larger amount or a homeowner loan, an appointment with a Woolwich Mortgage Adviser may be suitable. Find out more about our personal loans.

Homeowner loans, arranged by Freedom Finance, are available to Barclays customers and non-customers (subject to status and eligibility).
